  • As far as tourist destinations are concerned in Udupi the Lord Krishna temple is the main attraction of the city. This is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and this temple is also known as a Matha and also an ashrama which is a sacred place for worship for the Hindus. This temple is surrounded by several other small temples and known to be a 1500 years old. This temple was founded in the 13th century by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhvacharya who was the founder of the Dvaita way of life, which is commonly decoded as dualism. It is believed that saint Madhvacharya installed the idol of Lord Krishna in this temple and he used his spiritual powers to get that idol from Dwarka.
  • Udupi is a home to some very beautiful beaches and they are great tourist destinations to visit. You can visit some of them which will be a great spot for seeing the sunset and sunrise and there are beaches which are worth mentioning to see their beauty are St Mary’s Island where you can see beautiful rock formations created by volcanic lava flow and waves. Among other beautiful beaches you can also visit the Kapu Beach and Malpe beach.

Udupi cuisine comprises dishes made basically from fresh vegetables and fruits, grains and beans and they are made with coconut oil. The authenticity of Udupi cuisine lies in the fresh vegetable picked from the local gardens and the authentic and staple dish is the Masala Dosa. Part from Masala dosa you can have many other dishes in Udupi such as Saaru or rasam, sambarHuli which is same as sambhar with ground coconut in the base, Spiced rice, Ale Bajji, Bakshya, Kosambari, Bajji, Paramanna and many others.
