Tirupati is a town with great religious significance and settled in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. This place is famous for the very popular and sacred Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple which is adored by all over the country as this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu who is worshiped as Govinda in the Northern India and Lord Venkateshwara in South. Why Visit Tirupati?


  • People generally visit this place to have a glimpse to the holiest Lord Tirupati. And this temple has its own significance.There are some rituals as you have to visit Sri Varahaswami temple before visiting of Sri Venkateswaraswami. There are certain legends associated with it as traditions and legend, says that Varahaswami possessed the seven hills and agreed to give them to Sri Venkateswaraswami with the requirement that he too is adored. Consequently, Sri Venkateswaraswami asked his pilgrims to visit the Sri Varahaswami temple before visiting him.
  • You must visit the Tirumamani Mandapam, and you can enter this place Bangaru Vakili (which means the Golden Entrance in local Language) to reach the inner sanctum sanctorum. You can see the two beautiful tall copper images of the dwarapalakas Jaya and Vijaya on both sides of the door. There is a thick wooden door is which is covered with golden plates portraying the dasavataram of Lord Vishnu.
  • After the Visit of Lord Venkateshwara you will get free meal coupons at the SriVari temple. The simple meal will comprise of rice, sambhar (which is sour yet tasty dal with vegetables /lentil veg soup), chutney, rasam (light soup), and vegetable curry.
  • This town has numerous temples and you can visit on some of the important ones such as Sri Padmavati Devi Alayam temple, Sri Govinda Raja Swami Temple, Srikalahasti Temple which is a popular and ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Sri KalyanaVenkateswara Swami Temple which is famous because it is believed that Lord Venkateshwara got married at this place.

  • You can buy lots of souvenirs relevant to Lord Tirupati and if you are among the first timers then do ask the shopkeepers as he will be more than happy to help you.
  • Do not wear inappropriate clothes while vising the Tirupati temple or go for Indian clothes such as Sari or salwarkammez, as it is a respect to the religious atmosphere here.
  • You can visit this place during the local festivals such as the Vaishnava festivals, including Rama Navami, VaikunthaEkadasi, and Janmashtami with great grandeur, whereas the Brahmotsavam celebrated every year during September and considered as the most important festival of the town.
