Sringeri is a town located in the state of Karnataka in India. The city is located on the banks of Tunga River.This is actually a temple town and visited by thousands of pilgrims in the temple which is actually an ancient temple. This temple of Srinegri is a world-famous pilgrim center and tourist destination that is the home of the Sri Sringeri Sarada Peetham. The Sarada Peetham was founded by Adi Shankaracharya and is often called as one of the Shakti Peethams of the country. This temple is recognized as one of the four main temples of Advaita and Vedanta beliefs. But just beside the home of temple this city is also considered a great place to view natural beauty and this city is decorated with various natural beauties such as waterfalls, streams and valleys. And not only this but this city is also known as a huge Hindu Pilgrimage center because it houses a good number of ancient temples which are visited by thousands of Hindu pilgrimages every year.

Why visit Sringeri?

 

  • Sringeri is a house of temples so you can visit some of the important temples of the town. You can start with the main attraction of the town which is the matha at Sringeri usually known as Sringeri Sharada Peetha. This is one of the four Hindu Advaita temples and matha established by Adi Shankaracharya. This temple is also known with another name of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada peetham. The traditions that are followed in the temple are initiated by Adi Shankaracharya and people from all castes visit this temple and they respect the rules of the temple and get blessed by the Guru.
  • You can visit Sharadamba temple which is dedicated to the Goddess Saraswathi who is the Goddess of learning and wisdom. This temple has become one of the most visited temples of the country and this is a temple which is dated back from the time of Adi Shankaracharya.The temple is believed to have established in the 14th century, by Vidyaranya which is believed to have replaced an old sandalwood image with a stone and gold image of the Goddess. But according to the experts it is said that the temple architecture says that the wood is from the period of the early 20th century. But unfortunately, the temple faced an accident of fire that smashed the structure, and again rebuilt which is based on the Southern Indian style of architecture.is Shri Bharati Tirtha.
  • There are many other temples which are worth visit in Sringeri and those are the Kala Bhairava Temple, Kere Anjaneya Temple, Kalikamba Temple, Durgamba Temple and these temples are also established by the Adi Shankaracharya and located in the east, west , north and South respectively.
