Sariska National Park

Sariska National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the famous wildlife sanctuaries of the country located in the state of Rajasthan in India. Sariska National park is surrounded by rocks and grasses scrub-thorn arid forests, and dry deciduous forests.This park was declared a wildlife reserve in the year 1955 and in the year 1978, it became a part of the India’s Project Tiger scheme was given the status of a tiger reserve. Located on the top ranges of the Aravalli Hills this place is a home to the Royal Bengal Tigers.

Why visit Sariska National Park?

  • No one can deny that the Sariska National Park is a home to numerous mammal and bird species and most importantly is the home to some ferocious yet beautiful Royal Bengal Tigers. Apart from the Royal Bengal Tiger, in this Tiger Reserve you can spot many wild creatures like leopards, striped hyenas,jungle cats, golden jackal, sambhar,caracal, chinkara,chital, nilgai,’chousingha’ or the four-horned antelope, wild boar, hare, Rhesus monkeys hanuman langur, , and plenty of bird species and reptiles.
  • Among various bird species you can watch peafowl, bush quail, sand grouse, tree pie, golden-backed woodpecker, grey partridge crested serpent eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl.
  • Beside this National Park you can also watch out for more historical places in this place such as the Sariska Palace which is a huge palace which has been converted into a heritage hotel of this place. This palace was built by the Maharaja of Sariska. This Palace is noted for its rich and intricate architecture which is eye striking and people who stay in this heritage hotel experience one of their lavish moments of life.
  • You can also visit the Kankawari Fort In the Sariska National Park you can see a prehistoric isolated fort which is said to be constructed by Aurangzeb to jail his elder brother Dara Shekoh. The fort is not in a good condition but the views from this fort provide the extensive views of the valley which is breathtaking and splendid.
  • Apart from the Saiska Tiger Reserve you can also move to the outskirts if this park and you can visit Bhangarh where you can visit the most popular the haunted palace which was built by the Maharaja of Amer and this place is not to be the cursed palace where you are pro hinted to go at nights as it is said that ghosts are often experienced here.

Sariska National Park Tips and Recommendations

  • It is not that Sariska do not have any religious places to be visited as you can visit the temple of Naldeshwar- a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva built in the 18th century set amidst the green and dense forests which are as beautiful as the temple and after you reach here you will definitely spend some quality time out here.
  • There is an another Lord Shiva temple known as Neelkantha temple which is built in between 7th to 12th centuries and known for their artistic and astonishing craft man ship.
