Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is one of the beautiful bird sanctuaries situated on the Charao islands of Goa. It is fully surrounded with natural sceneries and mangroves, which is a lovely scene to view. The sanctuary has been named after the famed ornithologist of India Dr. Salim Ali. It is basically a wetland ecosystem with dense mangrove vegetation. It holds more than 400 different types of bird’s variety. Some of the rare varieties of birds seen in this sanctuary are woodpeckers, egrets, redshank, curlews, kingfishers, eagles, redshank, herons, kites, sandpipers, hoopoe and Myna.
