Nagaur is a city located in the state of Rajasthan in India. Nagaur is related to the great era of the Mahabharata and it is believed that the kingdom of Ahichhatrapur which was conquered by Arjuna of the Pandavasis believed to be later offered to his Guru Dronacharya, after his won, and this area was possibly some of the area of the Nagaur district. This area was previously the capital of Jangladesh and eh beginning of this city dates back to 4th century BC. It is also believed that Nagaur was ruled by the Nagas and from 7th century onwards the Chauhans ruled this place for a long time. In this place you can see rich flora and various ancient forts and monuments.

Why visit Nagaur?

 

  • In Nagaur you can see lots of forts and monuments and among them you can start with the Nagaur Fort which is named after the city was known to be one of the first Muslim forts in the entire northern India. This fort is one of the best examples of the blending Rajput and Mughal architecture.The fort was built in the early 1100s but underwent major renovations as it suffered losses due to various battles in the following centuries. But in 2007 the Rajasthan Government renovated it grandly and made it worth a visit. You can see 90 fountains that are running in the gardens and building premises which are beautiful to be watched. During the Sufi Music Festival this fort’s both external and internal spaces and areas, are served as venueand stage.
  • You can also visit the Khinvsar Fort which is a fort that has been converted into posh hotel. This fort is 500 years old and known to be the residence of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Inside this fort there are 25 temples and you can also see beautiful black deer roaming all around.
  • In Nagaur you can visit the Tarkeen Gargah which is visited by both Muslims and Sufis and known to be a holy place for them.
  • You can visit Ladnun which is historical City located in the Old Chanderi Nagari. This is a Jain temple of 10th century’s and known to be the spiritual hub of Ahimsa. People who want to learn spirituality and true humanity must visit here as there is a University presents here to teach the specific subject.
  • You can also visit the Kuchaman Fort which is also been converted into a five star hotel in the city. This fort is located on the hill and from this fort you can see the beautiful view of the city. IT is also said that the Jodhpur rulers used to keep their gold and silver currencies in this fort.
