Mattancherry Palace

Mattancherry Palace also called as Dutch Palace is a Portuguese Palace located in Kochi City Of Kerala. The palace was gift from Portuguese ruler to Raja of Cochin Veera Kerala Varma and was built in 1555. It is one of the oldest Portuguese building in Kerala. The palace was called as Dutch palace due to renovation work carried out by Dutch in 1663.

The palace is built in the traditional Kerala style of architecture and has a courtyard in the middle where stands a small temple dedicated to ‘Pazhayannur Bhagavati. The present museum was established in May 1985 housing a variety of exhibits such as portraits of the Cochin Kings, palanquins, dresses, weapons, three royal umbrellas, canopy, dolis, swords, stamps and coins etc. It is a centrally protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.

Mattancherry Palace Timings Entry Fees

Entrance fee is Rs. 2/- for all the tourists and Children up to 15 years have free entry.
Timings of visit: 10.00 am – 5.00 pm.
Museum remain closed on Friday .
