There are beautiful golden colored paddy fields which are to be seen with the blue flowing waters underneath having pink lilies on it.   • Primarily you will love to visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary which is the most visited and the most significant places of interest of Kumarakom. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where you can see a huge number of bird species that especially come during the winters and known as migratory birds. The main birds which known as local birds like the Brahminy kite, cuckoo, egret, waterfowl, heron, owl, cormorant, moorhen, darter, duck, as well as the migratory Siberian crane are seen here. Among other migratory birds, you can spot parrot, lark, teal, flycatcher and many others are seen here. These migratory birds usually come from the far flung Siberia or some from the Himalayas.
  • You can also visit the Vembanad Lake, where you can spot many freshwater and sea fishes. You can see various colorful fishes and also a number of prawns, shrimps, and others. There is a major attraction out here which is the “Pearl spot” fish that are found in comparatively lower numbers, than the freshwater fishes but this is found in this place easily. After the visit of the sanctuary, you can take a boat ride in Vembanad Lake or along the Kavanar River which is a pleasant experience.
