Kinnaur

Kinnaur is a small district located in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. This town is often recognized as “Land of Gods”. This district is settled in the laps of the great Himalayan Range as Kinnaur surrounded Tibet at the eastern side, in the northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh.Kinnaur is indeed a beautiful valley as well an extremely beautiful district having the three high mountains ranges such as Zanskar, Greater Himalayas, and Dhauladhar, surrounding valleys of Spiti, , Baspa Sutlej and their connecting rivers. The entire the valleys are amazingly beautiful and eye striking. The slopes of this valley are covered with thick wood, fruit orchards, lush green fields and picturesque settlements. On the peak of Kinnaur, you can see the much-sacred Shivlinga which formed naturally at the Peak of Kinnaur Kailash Mountain.

  • Kinnaur is a place where you can witness divine natural beauty with teh unending snow covered valleys. You can visit Kalpa where you can visit the Narayan-Nagani temple which is typical of Himachal craftsmanship. You can see a couple of Buddhist monasteries at Kalpa including the Hu-Bu-Ian-Car Gompa, built at 950-1055AD and from Kalpa you can view some stunning scenes of the Himalayas. From here you can visit the Kinnaur Kailash where stunning snow-capped mountains will attract you and make sure to see the sunsets from this point.
  • Kinnaur is a place where you can find rich fauna as there are some wildlife sanctuaries where you can spot some very wild and rare species such as snow leopard, Yak, Ibex, Brown Bear, Musk deer, black bear in the Lipa-Asrang Sanctuary. You can also visit the Rakchham-Chhitkul Sanctuary where you can spot Himalayan black Bear, brown Bear, musk Deer and Goral also you can have a visit RupiBhaba Sanctuary to see various wild species like Serow, blue Sheep, red Fox, snow leopard and many others.
  • In Kinnaur you can visit during festivals which will be a treat to yourself as you can visit this place during Sazo in which they worship the natural Shivalingam in the Kinnaur Kailash. Then you can also visit during Phagul where you will have a look to their culture of Kinnaur as during this festival the villagers feel happy as they celebrate the festival of spirit called Kali.
  • You can visit Sangla Valley as it is the most beautiful valley in Kinnaur as well as Chhitkul which is also known as the best visited places of Kinnaur.
