Jhansi is a city located in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Jhansi is known because of the rebel queen, Rani Lakshmi Bai. It gained importance when it came under the rule of Marathas and known as the princely state of the Marathas. This city is located on the banks of the Betwa River.In Jhansi there are mostly historical places and forts which are places of interest and in the city you can smell the aroma of citrus fruits as there are many orchards of citrus fruits are seen and you can visit this city in the beginning of winters.

  • You can start off with the Jhansi Fort which was built in 1613, by Raja Bir Singh Judao. This fort is constructed on a rocky hill and you can see the rest of the city from this fort. In the past era, the wall of the fort was covered the Jhansi city from all the sides and this wall has ten gates. Some of these gates are still present and some of them ruined with time. Some of the gates are which are remained are Khandero Gate, Jharna Gate, Laxmi Gate, Sainyar Gate,Datia darwaza, Unnao gate,Sagar Gate, Orchha Gate, and Chand gate.
  • You can also see the Rani Mahal which has been converted into a Government museum these days, in the museum you can see rare collections of statues,dresses weapons, and photographs that belonged to the Chandela dynasty and you can also see a picture gallery of the Gupta period. In this museum you can see beautiful terracotta structures,bronze statues,ancient coins,manuscripts and paintings.
  • You can also visit the Shrine of St. Jude as this shrine is considered very religious among Catholic Christians. The shrine is significant because St. Jude’s bone is buried in the foundation of the cathedral and thousands of devotees from all over the country visit this place on St Jude’s feast day celebrated on the month of October, every year. While visiting in the feast you can enjoy a week long fair and a procession on the last day of the fair and in this fair you can see people of all the faiths and religions coming together.
  • You can visit the Nag Mandir which is a beautiful temple and the temple is seen at its best look during the sunrise. These surrounding of this temple is found with some spectacular view that are set amidst beautiful trees and beautiful views of the city.

  • You must visit this place during the place Jhansi Mahotsav which is celebrated in the month of February and March and in this festival you can see the rich culture of the city with the colorful dance and folk music which go with by a handicraft fair and a grand food festival.
