Jaisalmer Fort

Jaisalmer Fort located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan is one of the largest forts of the world built in 1156 ;AD by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rao Jaisal. The Fort is popularly known as the ‘Sonar quila’ by the locals and overlooks th great Thar Desert, the fort built in yellow sandstones looks like golden fort standing atop the Trikuta Hill built in Rajputana and Islamic architecture. The fort is surrounded by 30-feet tall wall with 4 massive gateways. This fort is the major landmark of the city which can be viewd from far across the city also.

Inside Jaisalmer Fort

Built in mixed architecutr style of Rajputana and Islamic, the fort main buildings includes Raj Mahal , Jain temples, Laxminath temple and 4 massive gateways. Some other must see things are Ganesh Pol, Akshya Pol, Suraj Pol and Hawa Pol . You can also visit Tazia Tower a 5 story tower with beautiful carvings.
