Gangtok is the capital city of the state of Sikkim in India. Gangtok is nestled on the foothills of the Himalayas and is known to be a major destination for the Buddhist Pilgrims.   • As Gangtok is a home to Buddhism so you can start with Rumtek Monastery which is a Buddhist religious foundation built in the 16th century and the location of this monastery is awesome. This place is surrounded by the icy mountain peaks of the Himalayas, flowing streams and a river by its side, the natural ambience will relax your mind and soul as well as the monastery.
  • You can move your head towards Nathu La which is a mountain pass on the mystic Himalayas and the pass connects the Indian state of Sikkim with China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The scenes from this pass cannot be described in words as it is stunning and you can also see the rich flora and fauna of this place. The pass is surrounded by sub-tropical forests of Rhododendrons, Junipers and also you can spot many wildlife mammals such as snow leopard, Tibetan gazelle, Tibetan snow cock Tibetan wolf, , and various birds like black eagle, red starts tit babblers and many others. The place is also adorned by flowing and sparkling waterfalls and streams too.
  • Among other famous Buddhist monasteries you can visit the Pemayangtse Monastery and one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim. It is built on the highest peak of the state and built in the 17th century. And you can also visit the Phodong Monastery which is also built in the 18th century and this monastery is a home to some beautiful and ancient murals and around 250 monks.
