It is one of the best tourist place in Bilaspur. The fort was built by Raja Bir Chand as a fort Palace. The fort was shaped in a square structure built of stones, each side about thirty meters long and as much high. Its walls are about two metres thick. It has two storeys each about fifteen metres high and the floor of the second storey is supported by numerous high stone pillars. The upper storey of the fort has a small temple which houses a stone idol of Naina Devi. Now the fort is in ruins now and is not well-maintained, it is still worth a visit for travellers who love to explore ruined monuments.

It is located about about 52 km from Bilaspur situated at an elevation of 3000 ft. on the western slope of Kotdhar hill. The fort, which is almost in ruins now, was built by Raja Ratan Chand of Bilaspur about 600 years ago. Tourists can enjoy the magnificent view of Gobind Sagar Lake and the surrounding hills from this fort. The fort also houses a small temple of Goddess Ashtabhuja and some other deities which is still in existence.

Thakurdwara of Auhar

It was built in Auhar in the middle of the Bilaspur. Auhar was an important town of the princely state Bilaspur. Due to its importance Rani Naggar Dei built the famous Thakurdwara of Auhar. She also constructed on water tank with roof known as chhatwani and an inn for the stay of the travelers. In the Thakurdwara idols of ‘Shaligram’ and ‘Narsingha’ were installed. The walls of the temple have beautiful mural paintings.

The nearest Dam from Bilaspur is located in Bhakra village and is one of the highest gravity dams in the world. It was dedicated to the country by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in November 20, 1963. It serves as a prime attraction of the city drawing large number of tourists from all over the country.

Gobind Sagar Lake

Gobind Sagar Lake is a man made reservoir on the river Sutlej, formed after the construction of hydel dam at Bhakra. It is named after the revered Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. The reservoir has become a popular tourist place in Bilaspur and is a great relaxation point too. It is hugely responsible for attracting tourists in and around the region. The reservoir is 90 km long and covers an area of approximately 170 square kilometres. During the months of October and November, the water level of the lake is at its peak, thereby becoming a hotspot water sports destination.

Naina Devi Temple is one of the most important temple situated in Bilaspur. It is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths where limbs of Sati fell on Earth. This holy place witnesses the huge crowd of pilgrims and devotees round the year and especially during Shravan Ashtami and in the Navratras of Chaitra & Ashwin.

Nahar Singh Dhaulra

It is located in Dholra in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. The temple enshrines the ‘Kharaun’ (wooden slippers) of the hallowed saint Baba Nahar Singh that represents his omnipresence. Baba is also known as ‘Baija’, ‘Peepal Wala’ and ‘Dalian Wala’. Various fairs are held in the temple vicinity every Tuesday during the month of ‘Jeth’.

Vyaas Gufa

It is situated on the left bank of River Sutlej, at an altitude of 610 meters above sea level. It is believed that Maharshi Vyas, writer of the great epic- Mahabharata, performed his meditation and penance in this cave.

Markandey Temple

It is one of the most famous temple situated 20 km from the main city Bilaspur The temple is consecrated to Sage Markandeya, who lived and meditated here. As per the history, Rishi Markandey had no children and thus, he worshiped in this temple to have a child. As a result, Lord Shiva blessed him with one son but warned that the boy will live up to the age of 12 years only. So Rishi named his son as Markandeya.

Badol Devi Temple

Badol Devi Temple is located atop a hill in Badol Village in Bilaspur, at a distance of 3km from Gehrwin on the Gehrwin-Dhanathar Road. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga, extensively known as Badol Devi, the symbol of Mother Shakti.
