Dal Lake is one of the most beautiful and important lakes in Srinagar. Here you can find many carved wooden houseboats, vibrant shikaras and floating gardens. Shikaras can be hired from the boat stations and official rates list are displayed on notice boards. If you want to see magnificent views of lake then visit Srinagar’s famous floating market. Swimming, boating, snow skiing (when the lake is frozen during winters), and canoeing are some popular water sports practiced on the lake.It is one of the famous tourist places in Jammu & Kashmir.

This Cave is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located 141kms away from Srinagar. You can reach here via Pahalgam town. It is surrounded by mountains the cave is open for a brief period in summers (July to mid August) for the pilgrims. Rest of the time the cave is covered with snow. This yatra is popularly known as the Amarnath Yatra, thousands of devotees visit this place during at that time.

Chashme Shahi is one of the beautiful and small Mughal garden built in Kashmir. It offers a magnificent view of the Dal Lake below and surrounding mountain ranges. The original garden was laid out by Shah Jehan in 1632 AD. It is one of the largest temples in North India. Inside the temple there are many small temples which indicate different gods and goddess. It was built by Maharaja Gulab Singh (founder of the kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir) and his son Ranbir Singh. There are seven shrines, each having its own Shikhara, present at the site of the temple. Here you can see many idols of the Hindu gods and goddesses. The inner walls of the main temple are covered with gold sheet. This temple attracts many tourists.

This is of the oldest mosques in Kashmir. It is situated in the middle of the old city. Jama Masjid was built in the 14th century by Sikander Butshikan. Every Friday many people assemble at the mosque to offer the prayers. This place is architecturally unique, this monument has spires instead of domes. In Jama Masjid there are 350 pillars and every pillar is made from a single deodar trunk.

Shalimar Bagh is one of the largest Mughal garden in India. The Bagh becomes more beautiful during the autumn and spring seasons. It was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan, in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture. It has four terrace lawns, rising one over the other. A number of fountains and man-made streams dot the landscape of the garden.

It is one of the largest and famous monasteries, belonging to the Drukpa order. It was founded by the first incarnation Stagsang Raspa Nawang Gyatso. In 1630, king Singey Namgail invited him to offer religious estate throughout the Ladakh. The youngest son, Nawang Namgail, became a monk and changed his name to Zamling Drags. The Monastery was named Changchub Samling. The monastic festival ‘Hemis’ held in the month of June.It is also a most visited tourist place in Jammu and Kashmir.

In 1633 AD Asaf Khan, the brother of Nur Jahan, designed Nishat Bagh. Chinars, flowers, fountains and awesome landscaping makes this garden beautiful. This is one of the most beautiful terraced Mughal garden in Srinagar. It is the second largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley. This place offers a magnificent view Pir Panjal mountain range.

Charar-e-Sharif:

It is located in Kashmir is the mausoleum of Shaikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani at Charar-e-Sharif. People used to come to here for blessings and favor. And some came for knowledge and guidance. Every Thursday and Friday many people assemble here to offer the prayers. This place has a unique architecture with wooden carvings, grave stones and Persian carpets.
