Khajjiar Lake lies about 6300 feet above sea level between chamba & Dalhousie. The average depth of the lake is situated to be thirteen feet as per District Gazetteer. For the local people this lake holds sacredness and they beleive that it is unfathomable. The lake takes its name from Khajji Nag, the deity in the temple nearby. It is set in huge grassy glade with surroundings of evergreen cedars. The whole ensemble makes one think of a piece of sapphire set in the background of gold and emerald.

Manimahesh Lake

Located in the Budhil valley of Bharmaur at the foot of Manimahesh Kalish, the abode of Lord Shiva, this lake is the highest in the hierarchy of sacred waters of Chamba. The lagoon is smaller than the lagoon of Khajjiar Lake but is the most sacred. It is a great source of pilgrimage during Radha-asthmi and Janamashtmi every year when pilgrims from far and wide assemble for a holy dip here.

It is located at an altitude of 763m from the surface of the sea. In Chamba District, the Chamera Lake is developed by Chamera Dam on the Ravi River at Chourah. You can easily access the site from Chamba – Pathankot highway. Water Sports activities are easily available at Chamera Lake. Chamera Lake, a scenic bulging of Chamba District, is 25-35 km from the popular hill resort of Dalhousie. An artificial lake, it is the collection of Chamera Hydroelectric Project that is built over the Ravi River.

Ghadhasaru Lake

Ghadhasaru Lake lies in the Churah tehsil of Chamba and is 24 km from Tissa and is situated at an altitude of 11,500 feet. This lake is also held scared and has a circumference of about a kilometer. There is temple of goddess Kali located near lake. It is mostly visited by local people to offer prayer at Kali temple. The trek is somewhat difficult but well rewarded at the end. You get a very beautiful view of the surroundings.

Mahakali Dal Lake

This lake lies between Sano and Gudial in Chamba and situated at an altitude of near 12,000 feet. This lake is held sacred to the goddess Maha Kali. It is little bigger than Khajjiar and Manimahesh lake. It is surrounded by wild meadows and peaks.
