Chitrakoot Travel Guide

Chitrakoot is a town located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. Chitrakoot is a town with religious archaeological, cultural, historical significance and every year people in huge numbers visit this city during Amavasya,Sharad-Poornima,Somwati Amavasyas, Ramnavami, Deepawali, Makar Sankranti and other special festivals. And during these festivals people get benefitted from the numerous health camps for free eye check-up and treatments. In this city the Ayurveda treatments and yoga is also popular and the famous place in known as Arogyadham where people from all over the world come for healing sessions. Chitrakoot is place which has having a religious importance because this place is associated with Lord Rama and various happenings and times of life that he spent during his fourteen years of exile. It is believed that Lord Rama spent eleven years of his exile in the forests Chitrakoot with his wife Sita and brother Laksmana.

  • Chitrakooot is settled on the Vindhyas Range and is also having various mountain ranges after the incidents of the happenings of that time. In this place you can visit the Chitrakoot Parvat Mala that covers Janki Kund, Hanuman Dhara Lakshmanpahari, Kamad Giri, and Devangana which are considered as some of the famous religious mountains and lots of pilgrims visit these mountains.
  • You can also visit the Kamtanath Temples where it is believed that after worshiping in this temple Lord Rama fought with the devils and along with tht you can also visit the Kamdagiri hills where you can find a chain of temples and it is also believed that if you take five circles of this hills all your desires and wishes will get fulfilled.
  • You can also visit the Janaki Kund which is the place where Sita used to take bath in the crystal clear water of River Mandakini and after that you can visit the Ramghat which is located on the banks of teh River. Here you can visit the temples as the atmosphere of this is serene with the fragrance of aromatic incense and you can worship and listen to the holy men who usually meet here for their holy speeches.
  • You can also visit the Ashram of Sati Anusuya which is a green and cool place where you can have a good time seeing the entire place filled up with green environment and chirping birds.There are many stories related with this ashram and Sati Anusuya who worked and worshiped lot to maintain greenery in this place and to get back Rriver Mandakini when there was no water and food left and each of the living objects was dying through scarcity of resources.

  • You can visit some of the hidden and sacred caves in Pampapur and Gupt Godavari related to Lord Rama which are a great thing to see as the narrow caves are passed through thin streamline.
