Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore

Vidhana Soudha is the largest legislature-cum-office building in the India.  The structure is famous for housing the Legislative Chambers of the state government. The building was commissioned by Kengal Hanumanthaiah, Chief Minister of Mysore and was built in 1950. The building is constructed entirely in the Indian style of architecture. The main entrance is eclipsed by the four headed lions. These lions are the symbolic demonstration of Indian sovereignty. The massive building is bounded by lush green lawns and gardens. The place is flooded with lights on every Sundays and restricted Holidays and gives an exquisite view. The right of entry to the building has been restricted and one has to take prior permission before visiting its interiors.

Architecture

Vidhan Soudha is a grand edifice of the Dravidian Style located in the city of Bangalore. It is spread on an area of 700 by 350 feet. There are four floors and one basement. There is a porch in the eastern side which has 12 granite columns, each of which is 40 feet tall. The central dome is around 60 feet in diameter and resembles the Indian national emblem. The Cabinet room has an enormous sandalwood door, which has been skillfully carved. And the interior of the building is brilliantly adorned with traditional furniture and precious paintings.
