Qutab Minar, New Delhi

The Qutab Minar is the masterpiece that portrays the sheer vividness of the Mughal architecture. It is amongst the tallest monuments in the world. It was built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak in 1192 and later was completed by his son in law Iltutmish. The verses from the holy Quran are engraved on sandstone walls of Qutab Minar. The Minar is surrounded by lush green garden that offers an exquisite picnic spot. Also, it has been added to the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO.

Architecture

Qutab Minar is a five-storied tower and is a great exhibit of Indo-Islamic architecture. Each Minar has a unique design, exclusively built in red bricks and sandstone.  The Minar is 72.5m high, with a diameter of 14.3m and its upper diameter is around 2.7 meters. There are 379 steps in this Minar from bottom to top. The view of the city is amazing from top.

Qutab Minar is open to tourists from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 Am to 5:00 Pm.
Entry Fee

  • For Indian Tourists-Rs.10/-
  • For Foreign Tourists-Rs.250/-

Note

1.Entry is free for children upto 15 years of age.

2. Camera must be carried to capture exquisite beauty.
