Matheran

Matheran is a hill station located in the Raigad District of Maharashtra in India. It has a very close proximity from the capital city of Mumbai. Matheran is really a beautiful place with various tourist spots. This hill station is also known as the smallest hill station of the country and settled between the Western Ghats. There are more visitors in this place who comes from Mumbai.

This hill station is an eco-sensitive area, acknowledged by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. You cannot take motor bikes or any vehicles here as it is Asia’s only automobile-free hill station.

• From Prabhalgarh Fort you can see the beautiful and majestic Porcupine Point where you will find some of the panoramic natural views of nature and this place has got its name from the bird Porcupine of which this fort has got its shape
• Do not miss the exotic view of One Tree Hill Point where you can experience some beautiful scenes of natural beauty. From here you can see a high road which is known as ‘Shivaji’s ladder and here the beautiful Jambhul tree will welcome you, you can also find a serene place known as Tent Hill.

• You have to walk a lot in Matheran as there are no motorbikes allowed here; so do carry a good pair of walking shoes for a comfortable tour.
