Jantar Mantar, Delhi

Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory with masonry instruments. It was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur in the year 1724. It has instruments that can graph the path of the astronomical universe. Jantar Mantar of Delhi is even used by modern day researchers to determine the location of the heavenly bodies in the universe. Jantar Mantar is a place of inheritance that marks the accomplishment of the ancestors in India in astronomy.

Jantar Mantar is a constructed of brick rubble that is plastered in lime. There is an enormous Samrat Yantra at the fringe of Jantar Mantar and reveal the accurate time within four minutes. To the south of Samrat Yantra there is a remarkable instrument called Jai Prakash that has two concave hemispherical formation used for determining the position of the sun and extraterrestrial bodies. Misra Yantra is used to indicate the position of the sun. The two pillars near it used to determine the longest and the shortest days of the year.
