Jama Masjid, Delhi

Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques located in Old Delhi, India. The mosque is well known for its architectural and religious significance. It is an ultimate architectural work of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The place is crowded on Fridays as a large horde of people come here for the prayer of Jummah. About 25,000 people can pray here at one time. There is no entry fee charged to visit the place.

Architecture

Jama Masjid is made of pure red stone and white marble. Designed by Ustad Khali, the mosque is a spectacular facade of eleven arches adorned with marbles. It has three gateways, four towers and two minarets. The minarets are divided by three projecting galleries and are prevail by twelve-sided domed pavilions. The mosque also abides several relics including a historic copy of the Quran written on deer skin.

7:00 Am to 12:00 Pm

1:30 Pm to 6:30 Pm

Note

1. Visitors are not allowed from 12:00 Pm to 1:30 Pm.

2. Phograph should not be take during prayer hours.
