Guruvayoor is a town located in the state of Kerala in India. This town is named after the famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, which is the fourth biggest temples of the country and every day hundreds of devotees visit this temple. According to the legends, this temple is over 5000 years old and the idol of this temple is also as the same age of the temple. There are various festivals and ceremonies the are associated with the temple which is attended by thousands of visitors from all across the country. This temple is basically dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his eighth incarnation Lord Krishna. You can see a huge statue of Garuda which is known as the celestial rid of Lord Vishnu can be seen at the premises of the temple and it is also a landmark of the city.

  • You can visit this city basically to visit the temple Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple. This temple actually has lots of stories behind it and people can see this temple along with other temples located at his area. This temple used to be the main royal temple of the Zamorin’s of Kozhikode. Guruvayoor temple is believed to be constructed by Lord Parashurama(an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). The temple arena is unique, as the structure is built with 3 layers inside, which is unique and one of its kind and usually not seen in other places. The chief idol is located inside the third layer. The idol is a greater representation of Lord Vishnu, but often embodied as a baby form of Lord Krishna, made with sandal sculpting.
  • You will be astonished by the eye striking scene of 100 golden lamps lightening the inner temple space. The idol is constructed of a very rare kind of stone, and the idol is with a height of 4 feet tall. The idol is amazingly decorated with beautiful ornaments and weapons which are seen in a traditional image of Lord Vishnu.
