Darjeeling

Darjeeling is a small town located in the state of West Bengal in India. This is an important tourist destination for all those people who love serene mountains from all over the country. People mostly from eastern India visit this place. The beauty of Darjeeling lies in its lush and aromatic tea gardens with high mountains and beautiful natural landscapes. It is located in the lesser Himalayan range which is also known as the Mahabharata Range.

Darjeeling is set on the background of the 19th century when the British Administration was present and Darjeeling is also popular for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which is a 60 cm (24 inches) narrow-gauge railway that was announced as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999 for being “an extraordinary example of a groundbreaking transportation system.

  • Limited not only just for the teas but you can visit this place to have a beautiful look at the various wildlife Sanctuaries such as the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park where you can spot various endangered Himalayan animal species. And you can also visit the Lloyd’s Botanical Garden where you will see the evergreen sal, oak and semi evergreen forests. You can also spot various animals such as mongoose, elephant, tiger, hog deer, one horned rhinoceros, leopard herons and red pandas. You can also find many migratory birds from Tibet such as teals, gulls, plovers and ducks.
  • As Darjeeling is located in the Himalayan range so you can see a strong influence of Tibetan and Gorkha culture in the city and the culture of them are spread everywhere. You can definitely visit the Nightingale Park where you can see the beautiful glimpse of the Kanchenjunga Hills and the best time to visit here in the evenings.
  • Do visit the Rock Garden which is a beautiful rocky area with a small waterfall that comes out from rocks and area is flowery and your female partner can dress herself in flowers and also at the Batasia Loop where you can travel on the toy train and make sure to buy the local handicrafts but they are available only before 8 am.
